This course will use callisthenics (body weight training) to enhance our yoga practice and promote functional movement. We will build strength, mobility, suppleness and ease of movement in ways that are functional to everyday life.

We are going to work methodically through the body, improving movement range for all main joints and creating functional strength. This course will support you to create space and agility in your body, not only so you can move in your fitness practices with more ease, but more importantly you can move through life with more fun and joy.  

Breathwork is an integral part of this course, with each session focusing on a new breathing technique. We will also learn to integrate breathing in our movement, to help with stamina and fluidity of movement. All sessions will close with a meditation/relaxation practice. 

This course is open to all fitness levels. We will be able to work with different variations for all. 


WEEK ONE: Introducing Foundations
We will start by learning the framework on which we will base all the sessions. We will learn the three sets of sun salutations and will clarify transitions and variations.


WEEK TWO: Upper Body
We will work specifically on upper body. Mobilising and strengthening shoulders, arms and wrists.


WEEK THREE: Lower Body
In this session we will focus on lower body, working on mobility and strengthening of hips, legs and feet.


WEEK FOUR: Spine & Core
We will look at the range of movement in the spine and how we can create stability by strengthening the surrounding muscles, including the core. 


WEEK FIVE: Sun Salutations
We will start weaving callisthenics exercises into sun salutations and bring a variety of movements and sequences.


WEEK SIX: Full Practice
In our last session we will focus on weaving in all the elements we have previously learned, incorporating whole body movements, and bringing flow in our sequences.

 

These sessions are each 60mins in length and the course is priced at £85 for 6 weeks.
